Google Dashboard?

With all the cool things that Google is coming out with, there is one thing that hasn’t come out, that I really want.

Here is a list of all the Google services that I use, in no particular order.

  • Gmail
  • Adsense
  • Adwords
  • Sitemaps
  • Analytics
  • Blogger
  • Groups
  • Picasa web albums
  • Reader

I think that’s it, though I’m sure I’m missing something. For the sake of simplicity, lets separate out the communication tools for a few minutes. We are left with Adsense, Adwords, Sitemaps and Analytics. I visit these daily and I’m constantly comparing the information that each provide me. I would venture that most webmasters out there that have one of these services, probably have all four. I’m annoyed daily that I have to log into each of the four separately.

Now, lets group Blogger, Reader, Picasa and Google Groups together. The Personalized homepage does allow viewing content from these but doesn’t provide a true dashboard feeling of being able to view content and control them.

What do I want? At very minimum I would love for Google to streamline authentication for all of their services. I don’t want to continue typing in my password each time I visit a different service. Being able to manage access and get to each of the services from a single “Google accounts” page would be great.

Lets take it one step further, a step that would be excellent for webmasters. Much of the data provided by Adsense, Adwords, Analytics and Sitemaps relates to data in each of the others. I would think that some of the data geniuses could find a way to group an relate this data into one webmaster dashboard. Analytics does this to some extent with Adwords but has no relation to Adsense. I have been requesting Google link the balance in Adsense to your Balance in Adwords for some time. Being able to dump a percentage of your Adsense income right back into your advertising budget would be very handy. Now that Analytics and Sitemaps are in play, there is so much information available to webmasters. I would love to be able to log into one site and be able to view Adsense and Adwords data all rolled into an Analytics style interface, with the capability to change both Adsense and Adwords options directly from the interface. Sounds nice doesn’t it.

Now to the communications services Google provides. We’ve seen some recent integration here, but still single sign-on would be a great improvement. A completely integrated dashboard for all of the communications services would give Google the advantage over all of the other similar services.

Now, it’d be really cool to have both the communications services and webmaster tools together in one spot… but hey, I don’t want to ask TOO much. 😉

Wouldn’t you like seeing everything via a single sign-on and dashboard?
