cool , thanks for the feed back and removing my email , i didn't even know it was up here, yes i'm rocking the Nikon D70s . its light enough to go every where and does most of what i want it to when i get there , i had similar success ( albeit inconsitently) with a sony point and shoot as well , until it pretty much fell apart,

slowly building my quiver of lenses , right now, a nikon 18 - 70 f3.5 - 5.6 , ashamably a quantatray zoom 100-300 ( which i finally researched and to my dismay realized its a piece of junk ) ( which explains so much of the frustration i've had with it ) an old school russian fisheye from a friend , and most recently an old nikon prime 50 f1.4 which i have fallen in love with though it lacks any sort of auto focus, which brings me back to the days of the sony point and shoot, not every picture comes out how i want... ...Oh. but when they do !!!

look forward to talking shop in the future,

thanks again.

(btw.. edited out your email address there, don't want that public for the spambots)

Thanks... I was carrying around an XSi for that event. light weight, nice quality. great camera for the price, at least it was when a couple years ago when I picked it up for a carry around and backpacking camera. not sure what new they're selling in it's previous place in the canon line up.

A bad camera will make bad photos, but a good camera doesn't necessarily make good photos. Bodies are just one part of the equation. oh, and don't forget the holga. a bad camera if there ever was one, but look at all the amazing black and white shots being taken by them. Most people at any zoom less than 100% won't notice the quality difference between an XTi, XSi, 40D, 7D or the 5D. especially when shot in raw and processed reasonably.

I hate to publicly admit to it, but a couple of my most popular shots in the last few years were taken with a cheap kodak point and click, in full manual mode. I carried that camera on a couple long backpacking trips where I didn't have room or weight ability for a dslr body, 70-200mm, and a wide angle. I can see the difference, maybe 50% of photogs can, more if they compare side by side. But the untrained eye doesn't have a clue. regardless, it doesn't detract from the image.

found your smugmug account. some of your river pics are pretty cool, is that a Nikon your shooting with? what lens?
