Dear Zeb,

(I tried sending this note to you via your contact form but couldn't get it to go through. I hope you don't mind my posting it as a comment.)

Thank you for posting your comments about our Reasons to Love Idaho Photo Contest.

We appreciate and share your concerns about running a fair contest.

This was our first experience running a photo contest, and we overlooked some important copyright concerns.

We agree that the original photographer should retain the rights to their image.

We are currently changing our rules to state this and also clarify that we will not sell or claim to own the photos.

We believe that a non-exclusive license is more appropriate. We would like to retain the right to use the images for promotional and marketing purposes only.

Please visit www.reasonstoloveidaho.com again in the next few days to review our new rules.

Thanks again for your post. Please feel free to contact us anytime if you have additional comments our concerns about the contest. Your comments will help us make a more enjoyable and fair contest for everyone.

Sincerely,

Mike Myers
Assistant to Phillip R.
