We appreciate and share your concerns about running a fair contest.

This was our first experience running a photo contest, and we overlooked some important copyright concerns.

We agree that the original photographer should retain the rights to their image.

We are currently changing our rules to state this and also clarify that we will not sell or claim to own the photos.

We believe that a non-exclusive license is more appropriate. We would like to retain the right to use the images for promotional and marketing purposes only.
